MEN’S SOCCER

Matt Suddith, Jonah Smith, Bradley Coblentz and Kwasi Boateng Ameyaw each scored a goal as Hagerstown Community College won its Maryland JuCo Conference opener, blanking Cecil 4-0 on Wednesday at HCC.

Akheem Riley and Patrick Creadick each had an assist and Adam Carrier had four saves for the shutout for the Hawks (2-0, 1-0).

PREP VOLLEYBALL

Greencastle 3, Shippensburg 2

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Abbey Pool had 10 kills to lead Greencastle-Antrim in a 13-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-14, 15-9 victory over Shippensburg on Tuesday.

Chloe Hoover had seven kills, two blocks and two aces, Courtney Stump had seven kills, eight aces and 12 digs, Bailey Hopkins had 23 digs, Ashlynn Schaeffer and Cierra Stoner had five kills each and Erin Koons had six assists for the Blue Devils.

JV: Greencastle, 2-1.

Shalom Christian 3, CVCS 2

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Laiton Suders had 10 kills and nine digs for Cumberland Valley Christian School in a 23-25, 12-25, 25-22, 25-19, 15-11 Mason Dixon Christian Conference loss to Shalom Christian on Tuesday.

Karli Fogal had 23 assists, Anna Bunting had seven kills, five digs, 23 service points and four aces, Karlee Kipe had six kills and Katie Sugden had 12 service points for the Blazers.

JV: Shalom, 2-0.


PREP CROSS COUNTRY

Southern Fulton girls sweep

BEDFORD, Pa. — The Southern Fulton girls took five of the top nine overall places, led by Macey Hollenshead’s third-place finish (24:10), to go 3-0 on Wednesday. The Indians defeated Bedford 24-31, Windber 24-31 and Bishop Guifoyle 15-40.

The Southern Fulton boys, led by Jacob Pryor’s fifth-place finish (19:52), went 2-1. They fell 17-38 to Bedford but beat Bishop Guifoyle 20-35 and Bishop Carroll 24-31.

Basketball Coaches Clinic at Goretti on Sept. 29

The Mid-Atlantic Coaches Clinic will take place Sept. 29 at St.Maria Goretti in the Gael Center. The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with several coaches in attendance. The cost of the camp is $40 for members of a coaches group or $50 for one coach if registered by Sept. 20. Featured coaches at the clinic will include Paul Hewitt of George Mason, G.G. Smith of Loyola University (son of Tubby Smith), Scott Spinelli of Maryland, Darrell Brooks of Bowie State and Tom Dickman of Hood College. Coaches will discuss player development, offensive and defensive concepts and more. Coaches on any level are invited to attend.
