Chairman of Franklin County Democratic Committee resigns

GREENCASTLE, Pa. — Stephen Harris has resigned as chairman of the Franklin County (Pa.) Democratic Committee, according to a news release from the organization.

Sheldon “Shelly” Schwartz of Antrim Township, Pa., will be serving as interim chairman, the release said.

“The county’s 25,000-plus registered Democrats can rest assured the FCDC is in the very capable hands of (the) interim chair, ... as he comes with decades of devotion to community service and Democratic values,” the release said.

The executive committee members expressed gratitude to Harris for his work with the committee and Waynesboro Area Democrats, the release said. He is moving outside of the county, making him ineligible to continue in the position, according to the release.



Waynesboro to conduct housing training session

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — The Borough of Waynesboro will conduct a fair housing training/discussion session on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 4 p.m. in the second-floor council chambers of borough hall.

The session is open to all real estate professionals, landlords and members of the general public. The facility is handicapped accessible.

The session is conducted in accordance with the new Community Development Block Grant regulations, and the borough is attempting to provide outreach on the matter of fair housing.

The Franklin County (Pa.) Planning Commission is co-sponsoring the event.
