Hagerstown Elks Lodge 378 Exalted Ruler G. Scott Davis presented a check for $3,000 to Carol Brashears and Kathy Powderly, members of the Hagerstown Area Religious Council and Micah’s Backpack Program Steering Committee.

The program partners with Washington County Public Schools by providing weekend meals to meet the needs of about 650 students in 28 elementary schools in the county during the 2013-14 school year.

Each eligible elementary student receives a backpack filled with enough food for the weekend consisting of two dinners, two lunches and two breakfasts.

The $3,000 donation equates to approximately 4,000 meals.
