September 02, 2013

The Meals on Wheels program of the Washington County Commission on Aging is seeking volunteers to deliver noon meals to medically-homebound elderly residents once a week.

Each route takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete and is comprised of an average of eight stops, according to a news release from Meals on Wheels.

Meals are picked up at schools in the delivery area at 10:30 a.m., and equipment is returned to the schools following delivery, the release said.

Volunteers are asked to use their personal vehicle. Those 55 and older are eligible for mileage reimbursement through RSVP, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, the release said.
