Phyllis Elaine Burgess, 86, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at her home.

Born April 15, 1927, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Daniel and Ellen Katherine Christ Keller.

She was a 1945 graduate of St. Mary's High School.

In her earlier years, she was employed by Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown.

Phyllis enjoyed many sports, especially the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles.

She loved water and snow skiing, and belonged to the Potomac Fish & Game Club Ladies Auxiliary and the Little Heiskell Ski Club. She also volunteered at the Shepherd's Table at Rehoboth Food Bank in Williamsport, Md.

She was a member of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church in Williamsport.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Herbert A. "Herbie" Burgess of Hagerstown; daughter, Patsy A. Crumbacker of Hagerstown; son, Steven C. Crumbacker and his wife, Kimberlie, of Boonsboro, Md.; sister, Jean M. Keller of Hagerstown; sister, Mary H. Helmer of Hagerstown; brother, Carroll E. Keller of Maugansville, Md.; brother, David L. Keller of Skippack, Pa.; brother, Lynn E. Keller of Walkersville, Md.; brother, Michael J. Keller of Hagerstown; and nieces, nephews and loving grandcats.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Paul E. Puskar; and seven brothers, Gerald A. Keller, the Rev. Robert C. Keller, Kenneth D. Keller, Ronald J. Keller, Richard M. Keller, James V. Keller and P. Thomas Keller.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The funeral home will be open Tuesday after noon for the convenience of family and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Williamsport, with Monsignor Alfred E. Smith and the Rev. John Jicha as celebrants. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
