Margaret Eleanor Rossiter, 95, of Edgemont Road in Smithsburg, Md., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at her home.

Born Aug. 14, 1918, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late James F. Wallace Sr. and Theresa (Haug) Wallace.

She was preceded in death by her husband, retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Charles Melvin Rossiter, on Jan. 27, 1986. They were married July 16, 1941.

She was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; American Legion Post 239 Ladies Auxiliary in Cascade, Md., since 1975; and Women of the Moose in Waynesboro, Pa., since 1977. She was a former member of the NCO Wives Club at Fort Ritchie.

She was employed by Cascade Elementary School for 17 years as an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) instructor.

She was a volunteer at South Mountain Restoration Center in South Mountain, Pa., and the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

She is survived by three sons, Charles M. Rossiter Jr. and wife, Mary Ellen Munley, of Oak Park, Ill., Patrick J. Rossiter and Annette Heavener of Hagerstown, Md., and Timothy M. Rossiter and wife, Teresa, of Funkstown, Md.; four grandchildren, Samantha J. Rossiter, Stephanie L. Rossiter, Jack Rossiter-Munley, and David Rowe and wife, Lauren; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan Rowe and Annabel Gobel.

She was preceded in death by one brother, James F. Wallace Jr.; and one granddaughter, Erika Rossiter.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Rita's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Malagesi officiating. Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Margaret to Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 510 Butler Ave., Martinsburg, WV 25405.
