The Continuing Education and Business Services Division at Hagerstown Community College is offering a new online course, “HR Start Smart,” from Sept. 23 to Nov. 8.

Taught by HCC instructor Denise Smoot, the course provides training for human-resources professionals preparing to take the Professional in Human Resources or the Senior Professional in Human Resources exams. The exams are offered through the HR Certification Institute, an internationally recognized certifying organization that is used by more than 120,000 human-resources professionals worldwide.

HCC’s course will teach participants about the six functional areas needed to pass the exams.

Weekly assignments and discussions are released each Monday and the class meets in a live virtual classroom on Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Each participant will receive the HR Start Smart workbook and audio CD with flashcards shipped directly to his or her home address.

Registration fee is $995 and includes all tuition, fees and course materials.
