Fall Fest set for Oct. 4 and 5

Clear Spring High School FFA will hold its inaugural fall festival Friday, Oct. 4, and Saturday, Oct. 5.

The event is sponsored by Clear Spring High School FFA, Clear Spring High School FFA Alumni, and Claud E. Kitchens Outdoor School at Fairview.  

On Friday, Oct. 4, a fried chicken dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Clear Spring Middle School. The dinner costs $8.

Dinner will be followed by a country line dance and square dance for all ages from 7 to 10 p.m. at the middle school. The dance costs $2 per person.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, food and activities will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. behind Plumb Grove Mansion. Some of the events include a 5K race at 8:30 a.m. behind Clear Spring High School, scarecrow making, antique car and tractor show, apple butter making, children’s barrel train, turkey calling contest and other activities. 

Admission is free.

Library news

The Leonard P. Snyder Memorial Library in Clear Spring will hold  “Intro to Couponing” on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. The event will feature Jennifer Ward of The Nifty Thrifty Lady blog, as she introduces participants to the couponing life. Sign-up is required as space is limited. To register, call 301-842-2730.
