Two Hagerstown residents have been charged with taking items from vehicles in the area of Saint James Village North, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

John Daryl Eller, 21, and Catlin Brianna Rose, 20, were charged with one count each of theft less than $1,000, and two counts each of rogue and vagabond, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Deputies said they responded at 3 a.m. Sunday for a report of people acting suspiciously in the area of Saint James Village North, which is south of Hagerstown off Sharpsburg Pike.

Officers stopped Eller and Rose and determined after an investigation that the two were in possession of items that had been stolen from vehicles, police alleged in the release.

Eller and Rose were released on $2,500 unsecured bonds, according to police.

The sheriff’s office said it encourages motorists to remove valuable items from their vehicles and to keep their vehicle doors locked.
