Driver in fatal motorcycle accident identified

THURMONT, Md. — A man killed Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle accident has been identified by Maryland State Police.

Christopher R. Stabile, 37, of Olney, Md., apparently lost control of the motorcycle he was driving north of Thurmont, ejecting him and a female passenger, according to a state police news release.

The female passenger was taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, the release said.

The motorcycle was heading south on Md. 550, north of Kelbaugh Road in Sabillasville, Md., when Stabile lost control on a curve in the road, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Md. 550, from Eyler’s Valley Flint Road to Kelbaugh Valley Road, was closed until 3:45 p.m. Sunday while the accident was investigated, police said.

Police on Monday did not release the name of the female passenger.
