Meat bonanza planned for Oct. 13

The South Hagerstown Junior Rebels football team will hold a holiday meat bingo Sunday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. at Western Enterprise Fire Co., 526 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown. 

The doors will open at 12:30 p.m. and bingo will begin at 2 p.m.

 The prizes will consist of hams, turkeys, pork loins, shrimp and other items. 

There will be 29 games of bingo, raffles and tip jars. Attendees must be 16 to play bingo and 18 to play tip jars. 

The kitchen will be open for purchases. 

Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door.  Advance tickets are available by calling Annette at 301-992-6151 or Theresa Conrad at 301-730-1360.


Lioness Club to meet Sept. 5

The regular meeting of the Hagerstown Lioness Club will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the Academy Theater Banquet and Conference Center in downtown Hagerstown.

Doors will open at 6 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Cindy Held, nutrition specialist.

Members are asked to bring school items for Children In Need. Members are also asked to bring snacks that have been purchased for the Royal Treatment fundraiser, which will be Sunday, Sept. 29, at Williamsport Fire Hall.

Parents Day Out program accepting registration

It’s registration time for the Parents Day Out program at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1020 Maryland Ave.

 The church is across from South End Shopping Center.

 The program is held every Thursday from 9:30 to 2 p.m. from September through May. 

Those ages 1 to 5 years old are invited to attend.  They are separated into five groups and learn colors, numbers, shapes, alphabet, socialization and many other things that will get them ready for kindergarten. There is also playtime in a fenced-in yard with adult supervision.

While the children are having a day full of learning activities, parents can have one day a week to plan appointments, shopping or just get things done. The cost per day is $20.

SHHS Class of 1968 to gather Sept. 13 and 14

The South Hagerstown High School Class of 1968  will get together Friday, Sept. 13, and Saturday, Sept. 14.

Line dance classes offered

The Country Western Dance Association will offer line dance lessons again this fall.

The first session will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on the corner of Virginia Avenue and Halfway Boulevard.

 The classes are open to the public.

Classes will last for eight weeks.

The classes cost $5 for each class.
