BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — The Community Choir announced the selection of vocalists Levi Ellis and Rhiannon Griffiths as winners of the 2013 George G. Rink Memorial Scholarship for Young Musicians.

Ellis, an 18 year-old senior at Berkeley Springs High School, is the son of Rich and Jenny Ellis of Berkeley Springs.

Griffiths, a 17 year-old home-schooled high school junior, is the daughter of David and Margi Griffiths, also of Berkeley Springs.

Ellis and Griffiths were honored during the sixth annual Sleepy Creek Children’s Choir spring concert in Berkeley Springs.

Ellis and Griffiths were selected to receive the Rink scholarship based on the superior quality of their applications and recommendations from their teachers, as well as the strength of their auditions.

Both winners are familiar faces to local concertgoers.

Over the past several years, Ellis and Griffiths have performed with the Sleepy Creek Youth Chorale, as well as in numerous local musical and theater productions.

The scholarship fund was established in 2009 by the choir board of directors in memory of one of the choir’s founding members to further his dream of supporting the development of young musicians in Morgan County.
