The Rev. Larry Edward Yost Sr., 67, of Hagerstown went to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013.

Born July 3, 1946, in Big Spring, Md., he was the son of the late Charles Raymond Yost and Rosie Viola Mills Yost.
Larry was the loving husband of Sandra (Sandy) A. Lynch Yost for 46 wonderful years.

Larry was a 1964 graduate of Clear Spring High School.

He was assistant pastor at Trinity Christian Church in Clear Spring for 25 years and attended Virginia Avenue Church of God in Hagerstown.

He was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard.

Larry retired in 2008 from Washington County Public Schools as a custodial engineer after 36 years of service at several county schools. He was very dedicated to his career and received many awards for his outstanding performance.

He was a lifetime logger.

Larry was very dedicated to his wife, children and spouses, grandchildren, great-grandson and his extended family. His hobbies were shooting pool, hunting, traveling, fishing and walking.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a foster daughter, Tina Peeples; sons, Larry E. Yost Jr. and wife, Tina, of Hagerstown, and Kevin L. Yost and wife, Holly, of Clear Spring; sisters, Jean I. Gladhill of Big Pool, and the Rev. Mary A. Douglas and Ruth L. Snyder, both of Clear Spring; brothers, Richard R. (Bud) Yost, James F. Yost, and the Rev. Lauren L. Yost, all of Clear Spring; five grandchildren, Kasey Yost, Amanda Yost, Dalton Yost, Michael Yost and Madison Yost; one great-grandson, Gavin Barton; and his canine companion, Maggie.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Dean Yost; two sisters, Carrie V. Stouffer and Betty J. Yost; and three brothers, Charles Yost, Clarence C. Yost and Douglas G. Yost.

Services will be Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Revs. Paul A. Harne, Robert Robinson, Mary A. Douglas and Lauren Yost will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Clear Spring.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends you may visit the funeral home Thursday after noon.
