Gathering of the Arts planned at former Fort Ritchie

CASCADE — One Mountain Foundation will present the inaugural Gathering of the Arts at Lake Royer at Lakeside Hall on the former Fort Ritchie Army Base in Cascade.

The event will be Saturday, Sept. 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

The show will feature two- and three-dimensional juried art.

The Sept. 7 event will be an opening of the two-day show with a reception for the artists. Admission is $20 and will include wine, coffee, tea and light fare. 

The admission for Sept. 8 is $15, which includes coffee, tea and light fare.

Artists from Washington and Frederick counties in Maryland and Franklin and Adams counties in Pennsylvania will display their works of art, including paintings in oil, acrylics, and watercolor, glass sculpture and photography.

A special thank-you goes to PenMar Development Corp. for assisting in co-sponsoring the event and to the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau for sponsoring both days’ entertainment. 

The Giuliani Dou with Julie Belle Huff on flute and Jeff Lockwood on guitar will be featured Sept. 7 and the Rocky Birely Combo will perform Sept. 8. 

Wine will be provided by the Red Heifer Winery on Sept. 7.
