1. Harvest time
During Spudfest on Saturday, Aug. 24, potatoes will be harvested by horse-drawn plow and picked up by children for prizes. Other activities: Historic village buildings, machinery demonstrations, potato-themed lunch, children’s games and experiments, German four-square garden and artisan bread baking. Event from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Potato picking begins at 11 a.m. Washington County Rural Heritage Museum at Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, south of Hagerstown. 2. Everybody’s Day at Pen Mar Park
The Ray Birely Orchestra will provide music for ballroom dancing during Everybody’s Day on Sunday, Aug. 25. Jitterbug contest at 2:30 p.m.; waltz contest at 2:45 p.m. Event starts at noon. Pen Mar Park, off Pen Mar High Rock Road, near Cascade. Free. Call 240-313-2700.

3. Artillery demos
Artillery firing demonstrations, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24; combined artillery  and infantry, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25. Infantry demonstration, 3 p.m. Saturday. Antietam National Battlefield, off Sharpsburg Pike, Sharpsburg. Entrance fee is $4 ages 16 and older; $6 per family. Call 301-432-5124.

4. Navy Country Current
The U.S. Navy Country Current will play bluegrass and country music. 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Shafer Park gazebo, 37 Park Drive, Boonsboro. Call 301-432-5141.

5. Model boat regatta
The American Model Yacht Club will hold a model boat regatta from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25. Racing at 11 a.m.; then the public can try controlling the large models. Children’s wooden model boat workshop at noon. City Park lake, off Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown. Email
