The Funkstown Volunteer Fire Co. will hold its annual duck race Saturday, Aug. 31.

The race starts at 2 p.m. and the first duck to cross the finish line will mean $300 for the winner.

Ducks can be purchased through the fire company for $5 each or seven ducks for $25.

A barbecue also will be held that day, as well as a grocery raffle for $300 worth of groceries.

Busy weekend

This weekend should prove to be quite busy.

On Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Faire Off the Square will be held in the Elizabeth Hager Center lot in downtown Hagerstown.

The market will feature outdoor artisans as well as a farmers market.

Also this weekend will be Augustoberfest.

The event takes place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During Augusoberfest, Hagerstown celebrates its Bavarian traditions with German food, entertainment and dancing. The event will be held in the neighboring Central Parking Lot downtown.
