August 17, 2013

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Berkeley County Council on Thursday appointed Michael K. Roberts to fill the unexpired term of a county Solid Waste Authority member who resigned and now works for the board.

Roberts was appointed to fill the unexpired four-year term of Lynne Lashley, which ends in June 2016, according to county records.

Lashley, who was hired by the solid waste authority through Choice Staffing in Martinsburg to serve as the board’s treasurer, is expected to do bookkeeping work and answer office phone calls, according to Solid Waste Authority Chairman Clint Hogbin.

Lashley will be paid $10 an hour and is expected to normally work 32 hours a week on a part-time, contractual basis, Hogbin said.

The previous treasurer was paid $10.50 per hour, working the same number of hours.

“Ms. Lashley will be treated just like anybody else,” Hogbin said.

Among four or five people who applied for the part-time position, Hogbin said Lashley, who had served on the solid waste authority board for several years, was the most qualified.
