MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A 44-year-old man is accused of entering Shipwrecked Bar & Grill in Martinsburg where he worked and stealing two bank bags of cash early Thursday morning, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.

Mark Wayne Carter of Centre Street, Martinsburg, was arraigned Thursday evening on one felony count of burglary without breaking, court records said.

Surveillance video footage documented the burglary at 94 McMillan Court about 3 a.m. Thursday. The business owner told police she was “100 percent sure” the man in the footage was the defendant, the records said.

The owner told West Virginia State Trooper M.D. Gillmore that the defendant was wearing the same clothing when he left the business earlier in the morning, records said.

The owner reported two money bags, one containing $3,000 in cash and the other containing $1,000, were missing from the business.

Gillmore said in his complaint against the defendant that the video was clear, with the identifying indicators of the suspect visible.
