Residents of the Smithsburg area who are interested in restoring the Town Hall tower are invited to attend the first general meeting of the “Tower Team” on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Town Hall, 21 W. Water St., at 7 p.m.

The Tower Team is a group of citizens promoting the effort to put a tower back atop the 120-year-old building that houses the town government and police department.

The tower was removed in the 1980s and vinyl siding was applied to the building.

The mayor and council, and the architect have been invited to the meeting.

The Tower Team welcomes all who are interested to attend the meeting.
