August 13, 2013

DOYLESBURG, Pa. — Firefighters saved a barn from burning Monday afternoon in northern Franklin County after hay caught on fire inside, according to emergency officials.

The call for the fire at 24159 Back Road in Fannett Township went out about 1:20 p.m., a Franklin County Emergency Services dispatcher said.

A firefighter who answered the phone Monday night at Fannett-Metal Fire & Ambulance in Dry Run, Pa., said crews were able to remove the burning hay from the barn before it spread to the structure.

No injuries were reported. The barn on Back Road is just off Pa. 75, near the Franklin-Juniata county line.

Fire crews cleared the scene at about 3:20 p.m., the dispatcher said.
