Terry Lynn Verdier, 42, of 22217 Jefferson Blvd., Smithsburg, Md., passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born Friday, March 12, 1971, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Janet (Lewis) Verdier of Smithsburg and the late James Verdier.

He graduated in 1989 from Smithsburg High School, where he was the quarterback for the 1988 state championship football team. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree. Terry was employed with the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services as a case management specialist at the Victor Cullen Center.

Terry had continued his love of football, serving as the defensive coordinator for the Smithsburg High School varsity football team for the past 18 years. He also enjoyed golf and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 10 years, Diane M. Verdier; two daughters, Emma Caroline Verdier and Brynne Alyce Verdier, both at home; brothers, Brian Verdier, Aaron Verdier and Justin Verdier; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial services will be Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro, Md., with the Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt officiating.

Family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Terry to the Smithsburg High School Athletic Booster Club, 66 N. Main St., Smithsburg, MD 21783.
