Margaret Anna Taylor, 84, of Hagerstown, Md., went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family, on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at her home.

Born Feb. 22, 1929, in Charleston, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Reba (Miller) Sipes.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, J.D. Taylor Sr., on May 20, 2006.

She was previously employed with Doubleday and Maryland Ribbon.

She was a member of St. James Brethren Church and attended Paramount Brethren in Christ.

Margaret was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for them.

She is survived by six daughters, Sharon Glover of Adrian, Mich., M. Diane Armstrong and husband, Dave, of Shady Grove, Pa., Brenda Kelbaugh and husband, Rick, of Fairplay, Md., Linda Shanholtz and husband, Kenny, Nina Penn and husband, Ed, and Rachel Mentzer and husband, Dean, all of Hagerstown; three sons, J.D. Taylor Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Sharpsburg, Md., Clifford “Doc” Taylor and wife, Donna, of Chambersburg, Pa., and Carl Robert Taylor and wife, Kim, of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one sister, Susan Kelbaugh; two brothers, Robert Lowell Sipes and David Sipes; 25 grandchildren, J.D. Taylor III, Jason Taylor, Larry Taylor Jr., Diane Green, Dana Berry, Victor Carter II, Lamar Glover Jr., Amy Cook, Sarah Glover, Lori Kroupa, Marcia Helfrick, Don Oberholzer III, Michelle Bell, Andy Armstrong, Patty Armstrong, Tim Armstrong, Eric Taylor, Ashley Shanholtz, Kenny Shanholtz III, Kyle Shanholtz, Alex Penn, Chandler Penn, Brock Penn, Brent Mentzer and Kelsi Mentzer;  and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Brown and Eileen Flint; one brother, Jesse Sipes; two sons-in-law, Lamar Glover Sr. and Don Oberholzer Jr.; and three grandsons, Brian Taylor, Darren Glover and Elliott Penn.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Paramount Brethren in Christ, 19106 Longmeadow Road, Hagerstown. The Rev. James R. Stauffer will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County Benevolence Fund, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD  21742; Saint James Brethren Church, 17718 Lappans Road, Saint James, MD 21733; or Paramount Brethren in Christ, Deacons Fund.
