Claudia Needy twirls way to title

Claudia Amelia Needy, 12, of Hagerstown attended the America Youth On Parade National Twirling competition July 23 to 27 at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.

Claudia qualified to compete in the national pageant by winning the Mid-Atlantic Regionals beginner preteen pageant at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md., in April.

At Notre Dame, the pageant consisted of three events, including modeling with an interview, solo and Super X.

Claudia was crowned the 2013 Beginner Preteen Miss Majorette of America.

It was the first time she qualified for the pageant.

Claudia attends E. Russell Hicks Middle School, where she will be in seventh grade this fall.

She has been twirling for six years.

She is the daughter of Wade and Judie Needy of Hagerstown.
