Boosters to meet

The South Hagerstown High School Boosters Club will meet today at 7 p.m. in the South High media center.
The group will discuss issues involving the coming school year.

Lions Club
Tuesday — The guest speaker will be Thomas Riford, president and  chief executive officer of the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Fairplay School reunion planned 
The Fairplay School reunion will be Sunday at noon at the District 12 Ruritan Park on Manor Church Road.
The reunion will be part of Fairplay Days. Attendees are encouraged to bring photos from the past.

Travelogue series
The Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown will resume its travelogue series on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at South Hagerstown High School.
The series begins Wednesday, Sept. 25, with “Italy,” presented by Marlin Darah.
Six travelogue sessions will be narrated by the presenter who produced them this season.
Season tickets cost $30 for adults and $12 for students. Single tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students.

SHHS Class of 1971 planning gathering                   
The South Hagerstown High School Class of 1971 will hold a 60th birthday picnic Saturday, Sept. 21, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Washington County Regional Park, 20025 Mount Aetna Road.
Chicken, drinks, paper products and birthday cake will be supplied. Classmates are asked to bring a side dish.
Reservations are due by Aug. 31

Hagerstown Lioness Club
The regular meeting of the Hagerstown Lioness Club will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the Academy Theater Banquet and Conference Center in Hagerstown. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Cindy Held, nutrition specialist. Members are asked to bring school items for Children In Need. Members are also asked to bring any snacks that have been purchased for the Royal Treatment fundraiser, which will be Sunday, Sept. 29, at Williamsport Fire Hall.

Discovery Station
On Saturday at 2 p.m., Norm Little will appear as Capt. John Smith to present “The Titanic Story” as part of Discovery Station’s Saturday Plus program. There is no charge for Saturday Plus programs.
In addition, Discovery Station will host Titanic shipbuilding classes on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon with Little, master Titanic shipbuilder, teaching the classes. All materials will be furnished to build a 17-inch Titanic model. Classes will be held for five weeks. The five weeks vary as students go on family vacation. A $50 fee for the five sessions includes admission to the museum. Each student must be accompanied by an adult.
