The Heinrichs celebrate 65 years

Mr. and Mrs. Louis F. Heinrich celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a surprise dinner party at their home in Leitersburg.
The Heinrichs were married on July 17, 1948, at St Brendan’s Catholic Church in Braddock, Pa. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Bernard Berg Sr., now deceased.
Mrs. Heinrich is the former Agnes Park Monagle. She arrived at Ellis Island in April 1929 from Ireland and her family settled near Pittsburgh.
Mr. Heinrich served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and also lived near Pittsburgh. Lou and Agnes moved to Leitersburg in 1962 when Lou took a job with Mack Truck.  He retired in 1987.
The Heinrichs have four children, Fran Walsh (husband, Mike); Kevin Heinrich (wife, Naomi “Reese”); Brian Heinrich (wife, Linda); and the late Sharon Smith Blevins. Their family also includes a dear friend, Pat Rohrer, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Their residence served as an emergency foster care home for children for more than 20 years.
They enjoy camping across the United States, serving monthly family dinners, attending local theater productions, organic gardening, and saving the environment by recycling long before being Green was “cool”. During the spring, their stone house is surrounded by thousands of daffodils.
Mr. Heinrich is known throughout the community as the “Yodeler.” At the anniversary dinner, Mrs. Heinrich was awarded a medal by her family for 65 Years of Sainthood.
The Heinrichs attend St. Ann Catholic Church in Hagerstown.
