Mail Call - Aug. 6

August 05, 2013

“This is on the environmental group, the score cards, and sustaining downtown police patrol. This environmental group, you know, I don’t believe in this environmental stuff anyway. You give two people zero percent, but Mr. Shank, Mr. Parrott, I think they’re better than most of them that you put in. Of course, you gave 100 percent on, most of the Democrats. So another thing, as far as the police department, you need to have police walking the streets like they used to, not riding around in patrol cars. If you take some out of patrol cars and put them on the street, maybe you’d have some police walking the street.”

“I would like to give a special thanks to Officer Faith, Officer Pitsnogle and Officer Morgan for patrolling the town. They do a great job. We really appreciate them.”

“I see where drug dealers now run the courts. I think they should at least, when they get married, go to Hawaii for two weeks vacation, on taxpayers’ money.”
— Hagerstown

“To the Hagerstown caller who still keeps complaining about President Obama’s African trip: President Obama also went over there to meet with emerging leaders on trade issues, and to discuss problems like AIDS. He is the president of the U.S. He is our first black president. If he can’t go to Africa, no president should be able to. To continue to complain about everything this man does is ridiculous. ... He’s doing a good job.”
— Hagerstown

“I’d like to comment on when some people bring their kids to restaurants. It doesn’t matter if you take them to a fast-food or a fancy restaurant. If they’re being out of control, they do not know, because they’re children, but you’re the adult in charge of them. Please take them out of the area, or try to show some respect for people who want to eat. ... It’s not a zoo, where you should allow your children to run the river wild.”
— Hagerstown

“On Friday afternoon, July 26, we were driving on West Wilson Boulevard. A small black-and-white dog was evidently hit by a car. (It) was trying to cross the road. The dog seemed to be injured badly, in his hindquarter area. I would just like to know how the dog is. Please call in and give an update.”
— Maugansville

“I was wondering why, with all the wonderful coverage the ag center had for the children with all their different animals, why there wasn’t anything in there pertaining to the horses. Those children work extremely hard, and it is expensive to have and to show these horses today, and they are beautifully groomed and well cared for, but why no pictures or no write-ups? I just think it was truly unfair to the children and their horses. I hope we get some response on this as to why.”
— Hagerstown

“The president and his spokesperson have been using the word ‘phony’ to describe outstanding scandals like Fast and Furious and the murder of Americans at Benghazi, while the word so aptly describes himself and his administration.”
