Library's Western Maryland Room to be open Wednesdays

August 05, 2013

The Western Maryland Room, in Washington County Free Library’s temporary downtown Hagerstown location, will be open Wednesdays starting this week, said Elizabeth Howe, a certified archivist who works in the room.

The additional day means the Western Maryland Room will be open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday.

The room will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, she said.

The temporary downtown library branch, at 59 W. Washington St., was established during the closure of the main library while the main library is being rebuilt and expanded. The new library is expected to open later this year.

The Western Maryland Room is used for research of local history and genealogy.
