Firefighters called to blaze at Pa. barn

August 05, 2013

MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Fire crews were called to a barn fire Monday night in the 4700 block of Fort Loudon Road north of Mercersburg, according to a Franklin County Emergency Services dispatcher.

The dispatcher could not confirm the exact location of the fire, which was reported about 9:37 p.m.

The blaze sounded like it was “fully involved,” the dispatcher said, although he could not confirm that information.

Two Washington County tanker units — one each from Maugansville and Clear Spring — were dispatched to assist, a Washington County Emergency Services supervisor said.

When asked about the severity of the fire, the supervisor said the only information they had received was that it was “well off.”

Mercersburg’s MMP&W Vol. Fire Co. was the lead department on the scene.

Further information was not available Monday night.
