Maryland State Fire Marshal: Knoxville fire intentionally set

A fire that caused $1,000 in damage to a minivan Sunday morning on Sandy Hook Road in Knoxville was intentionally set, the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office said.

A passer-by reported the fire at 8:30 a.m. in the 18800 block of Sandy Hook Road, according to a news release from the fire marshal’s office.

Authorities said the 2000 Dodge Caravan stopped burning by the time firefighters arrived.

An investigation determined the fire started on the exterior of the vehicle, according to the release.
