Longmeadow Animal Hospital

Dr. Korrin Lucas recently joined the staff of Longmeadow Animal Hospital in Hagerstown.

She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to that, she graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in biology with a chemistry minor.

While her main professional interests are in small-animal medicine and surgery, she also is passionate about using veterinary medicine to help increase food production in developing areas. She has traveled to Africa twice and recently started a dairy goat project at an orphanage in Tanzania. 



Maryland Correctional Training Center

Capt. Roland Silver was named correctional supervisor of the second quarter of 2013 at the Maryland Correctional Training Center near Hagerstown.

MCTC was recently assigned as a local intake reception facility, and Silver took on the planning and organization of the new process. His planning and staff-management skills led the institution through a challenging new process.

Silver has been employed at MCTC since March 18, 1981.

Correctional Officer II Sethretha Douglas was named correctional officer of the second quarter of 2013 at MCTC.

Douglas is a traffic officer and was lauded for her efficiency, which has aided her supervisors in coordinating inmate moves from other institutions across the state, as well as moves at MCTC. 

The process of inmate movement requires report writing, preparing documentation, handling calls from the public and keeping fellow officers informed of the updates. Her knowledge of the database programming allows her to navigate with ease and provide assistance as needed. 

Douglas has been employed at MCTC since Nov. 17, 2005.

Emily Kaufman, a licensed graduate social worker, was named employee of the second quarter of 2013 at MCTC.

Kaufman piloted a new social work protocol to address the psychological aftermath of trauma experienced by the offender population. In addition to her daily work assignments, she has devoted time and attention to identifying resources and materials to enhance existing protocol.

Her format will help make informed trauma care more available to the population and is likely to be implemented statewide. 

Kaufman has been employed at MCTC since Dec. 14, 2011.



Mid-Atlantic Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Crystal Lock recently joined the staff of Mid-Atlantic Veterinary Hospital in Hagerstown.

She is a 2013 graduate of St. George’s School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, West Indies.

Her interests include internal medicine, soft-tissue surgery and dermatology.
