SBA offering government contract training courses online

The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering free online government contract training for 7(j) businesses.

Eligibility includes firms that are owned by a socially and economically disadvantaged individual whose firm might or might not be a participant in the 8(a) Business Development Program; a firm in a high-unemployment or low-income area, as defined in the U.S. Census Bureau’s County and City Data Book and in the poverty guidelines issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, or DHHS; or a firm owned by a low-income individual, as defined in DHHS poverty guidelines.

The courses are as follows:

• Government Contract Negotiations: Aug. 5 and 6, 1 to 4 p.m.

• Proposal Preparation: Aug. 7 and 8, 1 to 4 p.m.

• Financial Management for Government Contractors: Aug. 14 and 15, 1 to 4 p.m.

• Federal Contracting and Government Contract Management: Aug. 19 and 20, 1 to 4 p.m.

• E-commerce and Internet Business Strategies: Aug. 21 and 22, 1 to 4 p.m.

• Marketing and Capture Management: Aug. 26 and 27, 1 to 4 p.m.

Participants must attend both sessions for a certificate.
