Junior Hunter Field Day scheduled for Sept. 28

Youths with an interest in hunting, shooting sports and wildlife management are invited to participate in a fall Junior Hunter Field Day on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North American Rod and Gun Club.

Staff from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and representatives from sporting and conservation groups will use hands-on activities to teach participants about natural resources stewardship, wildlife biology, shooting safety and ethical conduct in the field.

Junior hunters will learn about trapping, archery, sporting clays and .22 rim fire shooting with professionals in a safe, mentored setting. All equipment will be provided, with certified instructors overseeing all shooting activities.

The event is targeted for those ages 8 to 16.

Lunch is free for all participants and their parents/guardians.

The club is at 12108 Belvedere Road in Hagerstown.
