Kenneth Robert "Buck" Hartman, 69, of Hagerstown, Md., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born Feb. 15, 1944, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Kenneth N. Hatfield and Anna Helen "Ike" Hartman.

He was employed as a supervisor for 32 years by Super Value, previously known as Creasey Co. He was also employed by Morning Star Dairy in Frederick, Md.

Buck was a member of the North American Rod and Gun Club, North American Hunt Club and the National Rifle Association. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge.

Buck was an avid deer hunter, and enjoyed the outdoors, nature and farming.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Ann (Teeters) Hartman; three daughters, Debbie Slate and husband, Bobby, of Hagerstown, Shari Hastings and husband, Tim, of Hagerstown, and Julie Schroyer and husband, Duane, of Greencastle, Pa.; a half sister, Anita Snyder of Hagerstown; three grandsons, Robby Slate, Dustin Hastings and Kyle Collins; one granddaughter, Katelyn Hastings; one great-granddaughter, Mikayla Slate; and special neighbors and close friends.

A celebration of his life will be Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Jeff Ehko officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
