Crab feast planned

A crab feast will be held Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Ave., on the corner of Halfway Boulevard and Virginia Avenue.

 The crabs will be steamed on site.

Chicken, hot dogs, crab soup and baked beans will also be available, along with beverages.

The crab feast will be held in the parish hall.

Tickets cost $35 each.

 A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.


Yard sale Saturday

St. Andrews United Methodist Church will host its annual yard sale Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon.  

Toys, games, puzzles, books and magazines, housewares and linens, jewelry, shoes, clothing, seasonal items, DVDs and CDs and other items will be for sale.

The yard sale will be held indoors. The church is at 1020 Maryland Ave., across from the South End Shopping Center.


City Park Ghost Tour

Walking ghost tours will be held at City Park in Hagerstown Sunday, starting at 8 p.m.  

Lantern-toting guides will lead the way through City Park. The tour begins at the Jonathan Hager House. 

The event is free.

Summer movies

Valley Mall Regal Cinemas will show the movies “Racing Stripes” (rated PG) and “Happy Feet Two” (rated PG) Tuesday, Aug. 6 and Wednesday, Aug. 7, beginning at 10 a.m. The movies cost $1.


Pool-side splash 

A pool-side splash will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the swimming pool at Martin L. “Marty” Snook Memorial Park in Halfway.

The program is for physically and/or mentally challenged individuals.

The evening swim will be open for all special population individuals, family members, friends and care givers to socialize and swim.  

The entrance fee costs $3 per person to be paid at the pool the night of the event.
