Betty Minor Crews, 84, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center.

Betty was born in Norfolk, Va., and grew up in Bena, Va., graduating from Achilles High School in 1946.

She attended Longwood College and, in 1951, graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing.

Betty was a nurse in Richmond for several years before moving to Baltimore in 1954, where she worked in nursing administration for 30 years at Union Memorial Hospital.

In 1996, she moved to Hagerstown, Md., to be near her daughter and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maryus Taylor Minor and Retha Cuthrell Minor; and brother, John Winfield Minor.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice McWilliams and husband, Dr. Wayne McWilliams; four grandchildren, Andrew, Sarah, Colin and Grant McWilliams; and her brother, Gerald Edward Minor.

Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, Va., with the Rev. Carol Bookwalter officiating. Interment will follow in Gloucester Point Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
