What happened to July?

July 30, 2013|Linda Murray | Around West Hagerstown

The summer is going by so fast. Only 21 days until Washington County Public Schools are back in session, so we'd better get in all the fun we can.

West End seniors

The next meeting of the West End Senior Citizens will be Thursday, Aug. 8, at 11:30 a.m. at the Western Sizzlin’ Restaurant on York Road. All members and their guests are invited to attend.

West End Lions Club

The West Hagerstown Lions Club is conducting a raffle. The prize is a $100 gift card from Penn Avenue Meats. Tickets cost $1 each and can be obtained by calling Joan Heil at 301-582-2374 or any club member. The drawing will be Nov. 18. All proceeds from the raffle will be returned to the community.

The club will hold its annual picnic Monday, Aug. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Funkstown Park.

Yard sale planned

Christ Lutheran Church, at 216 N. Cleveland Ave. in Hagerstown, will hold its annual yard, bake and food sale Friday, Aug. 16, and Saturday, Aug. 17.

The event will be held indoors each day, beginning at 8 a.m.

An array of yard sale items, along with soup, sandwiches, cold drinks and baked goods will be available.

Parking will be available in the church lot, using the Liberty Street alley next to the restaurant.

Patrons will be able to enter the church from the parking lot.

The entrance is handicap-accessible.

Signs will direct patrons to the indoor areas.

Selected large items will be available in the church shed adjacent to the parking lot.

Proceeds will go to benevolent needs in the community.
