Golf tournament

The Clear Spring High School golf team will host a golf tournament Friday at Whitetail Golf Resort. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

The entry fee cost $70 per player.

Volleyball clinic

Clear Spring Middle School volleyball clinics will be on Aug. 3, Aug. 10 and Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The clinics will be held at the Maugansville Elementary School gym. 

The cost is a one time fee of $5.

Library news

Needle Expressions will be held Thursday, Aug. 15, at 6 p.m. at the Clear Spring Library. It will include two hours of social crafting.

Bring your project and a cup; coffee and tea will be provided.

Also at the library, Washington County master gardeners will be on hand Saturday, Aug. 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to provide tips on container gardening and talk about root crops.  

Peach festival planned

A peach festival will be held at St. Paul’s Reformed and Lutheran Church Saturday, Aug. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. 

The church is on U.S. 40, three miles east of Clear Spring.

There will be peach pies (made with fresh peaches), sliced peaches, country ham sandwiches, steamers, hot dogs, hand-dipped ice cream, ham bean soup, vegetable soup, chicken corn soup, drinks (including peach tea) and a baked goods table. 

There will be an inflatable bounce for children. 

The proceeds will benefit vacation Bible school. 

The event will be held rain or shine.

Carnival under way

The Clear Spring Carnival started Monday.

Here is the entertainment lineup for the remainder of the week:

  • Tuesday — Richie Fields (country)
  • Wednesday — The Back Creek Valley Boys (bluegrass)
  • Thursday — The Incredible Drifting Whistle Pigs (country)
  • Friday — Staff Infection (classic rock)
  • Saturday —The Reagan Years (1980s band)
