Eric “Rick” Louis Sciulla Sr., 58, director of seafood at Weis Markets, Sunbury, Pa., and co-creator of Schula’s Grill and Crab House in Hagerstown, Md., tragically died while golfing on Saturday, July 27, 2013.

He was the beloved husband of 39 years of Frances Sciulla; son of Mary Grace Sciulla; brother of Toni Egan, Lisa Perrone and Mary Ellen Rivera; and cherished father of four children and five grandchildren, including son, Augie Sciulla and his wife, Colleen, and their children, Austin, Addison and Avery; daughter, Christina Brown and her husband, Kevin; son, Rick Sciulla Jr. and his wife, Nicole; and daughter, Danielle Bloom and husband, Brian, and their children, Payton and Emerson.

Sciulla was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. and resided in Keedysville, Md. He had an extensive and successful career in the seafood industry, including executive roles with Ahold USA and Weis Markets.

Sciulla was an avid golfer, fisherman, horseman and food connoisseur. His passion for seafood inspired the creation of Schula’s Grill and Crab House, with a specific focus on superior quality and freshness.

Most importantly, he loved his wife unconditionally, and devoted his life to his children’s and grandchildren’s happiness and success. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family. 

Services will be held at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. First viewing on July 31, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Second viewing Thursday, Aug. 1, 9 to 11 a.m. and a Mass at Holy Family Parish, 366 Watchogue Road, Staten Island.  On Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, the family will receive visitors from noon to 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, and a memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. The Rev. Collin Poston will officiate.
