Classes of 1940, 1941 and 1942 to hold reunion

The Hagerstown High School classes of 1940, 1941 and 1942 are planning a joint reunion Saturday, Sept. 14, at noon in the social hall of Christ Reformed Church, 140 W. Franklin St. in Hagerstown. The hall is handicap-accessible.

The cost is $15 per person. Reservations are needed by Sept. 1.

Meeting planned

Sons and Daughters of Italy will hold its business meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion on Northern Avenue in Hagerstown.

Meals will be ordered from the menu.

Anyone of Italian heritage is welcome to join.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 reported losses of 36 1/4 pounds for the week. 

The best TOPS losers were Bruce and Sue Young. The best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers were Jean Betker, Joan Budny and Kathy Renner. 

The no-no snack for the week is doughnuts.

The group meets Mondays at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown.  Weigh-in is from 7 to 9:15 a.m. and the meeting is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Sharpsburg exhibit

The town of Sharpsburg will be featured in an exhibit slated to open Saturday, Aug. 17 and run through September at the Miller House in downtown Hagerstown. 

The Washington County Historical Society is highlighting the oldest town in Washington County as it celebrates its 250th anniversary.

The Sharpsburg Historical Society is asking those who have items relating to Sharpsburg’s history to share them for the exhibit. It is interested in artifacts, photographs, maps and documents that deal with the town, the buildings, the industries, the families and the canal.

Repeat Performance

Repeat Performance, the thrift store run by the Meritus Medical Center Auxiliary, is holding a summer clearance sale.

All merchandise, including men’s, women’s, boys’ and girls’ clothing and all items in the book nook, plus all household items will be 50 percent off.

The sale begins Tuesday and ends Saturday.

The store hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The store is at 18706 Crestwood Drive off Pennsylvania Avenue behind Dunkin’ Donuts.

Profits from the sale will go to support patient care at Meritus Medical Center and for medical scholarships.
