Sixteen students graduated from Heritage Academy’s kindergarten class on May 23.

Five of the graduating kindergarten students are the children of Heritage graduates.

Before receiving their diplomas, the class presented a program titled “Busy Bees.”

The children buzzed into the auditorium wearing bee costumes.

Once onstage, they recited Bible verses and sang songs.

The theme centered on positive characteristics — being thankful, being honest, etc. One song concluded with the reminder, “I don’t have to wait until I’m grown up to be what Jesus wants me to be.”

Jayne Becker, who started teaching kindergarten at Heritage in 1969 when the school opened, presented her students with their diplomas. Becker has taught at Heritage all but a few years since then.

While the K5 students were changing from their bee costumes to their caps and gowns, Cathy O’Brien, the K4 teacher, recognized each of her 13 students for their accomplishments this year.

More than half of the children completed his/her Victorious Reader books by successfully reading short-letter words.
