Person taken to hospital after accident involving motorcycle near three-mile marker on I-81

July 26, 2013

WILLIAMSPORT, Md. — One person was taken to a West Virginia hospital early Friday night after an accident involving a motorcycle in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near the three-mile marker, according to Washington County Emergency Services supervisor.

The accident, which reportedly also involved a passenger vehicle, was called in shortly after 6 p.m., he said.

One patient was being transported by ambulance to the Martinsburg VA Medical Center, but the supervisor could not confirm if it was the operator of the motorcycle or another person.

Emergency crews had cleared the travel lanes by about 6:45 p.m., and traffic was moving slowly in the area, he said.

Maryland State Police are handling the investigation.
