Amazing Race

  BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. —  Amazing Race for Jenna’s Joy Foundation will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, at Berkeley Springs High School’s football stadium, 149 Concord Ave., Berkeley Springs.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. 

Modeled after the TV show, “Amazing Race,” teams meet at the high school and will receive a packet of challenges — scavenger hunt, trivia challenge, obstacle course (only mild physical activity required). Challenges must be completed by 3 p.m. 

Teams of two must have at least one driver. Participants younger than 18 must have adult permission signed. 

 Registration costs $100 for a team of two or a family with children younger than 10. Teams who register five or more additional teams receive free registration. Winners will receive prizes.

Tobacco Free for Life

Paula Ernst of The Washington County Health Department will host “Tobacco Free for Life” programs at Washington County Health Department, 13114 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

Classes will be Mondays and Thursdays, Aug. 5, 8, 12 and 15, from 11 a.m. to noon or 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. 

The program will be offered again Sept. 9, 12, 16 and 19; and again Oct. 7, 10, 17 and 21. 

Support groups are held every Monday from 11 a.m. to noon.

CPR for health care providers

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — War Memorial Hospital will offer the American Heart Association’s CPR for Health care Providers Course noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, from noon to 4 p.m. in Education Room A at the hospital located at 1 Healthy Way in Berkeley Springs.   

This course is designed for licensed health care providers who need to obtain or renew their CPR certification. 

A $50 fee is charged for the course.  

Class size is limited so advanced registration is required.

Third Thursday Talks

Parkway Neuroscience and Spine Institute will host free Third Thursday Talks with PNSI providers at Parkway Professional Conference Facility, 13 Western Maryland Parkway, Hagerstown.

Talks will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Aug. 15, Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.
