CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — Police are looking for a man who robbed the Charles Town branch office of MVB Bank Thursday off U.S. 340.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money from the bank at 88 Somerset Blvd. after presenting a note and demanding money from each teller, according to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Victor Lupis.

Police were dispatched to investigate the robbery at the bank in Somerset Village shopping plaza at 12:10 p.m., Lupis said.

The bank robber was described by bank employees as a white male between 25 and 35-years old and 6 feet tall, Lupis said.

The robber was wearing a baseball cap, long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans, Lupis said. He had a goatee and also had a tattoo on the right side of his neck, which possibly was a spider, Lupis said.

The robber entered and exited the bank using a rear entrance and was last seen traveling east on foot through the shopping plaza, Lupis said.

An attempt to locate the robber through the use of a sheriff’s department K-9 was unsuccessful, Lupis said.

Police responded to the bank within three minutes of reported robbery, Lupis said. Harpers Ferry Police Department, Charles Town Police Department and the West Virginia State Police assisted the Sheriff’s Office with the incident.

Anyone with information about the robbery may contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 304-728-3205.
