Maryland Senior Tournament

HURLOCK, Md. — Josh Miller drove in four runs to lead Valley to a 5-3 win over Elkton on Tuesday in the losers’ bracket final of the Maryland State Senior Tournament.

The win puts Valley into the championship round today at 6 p.m. against unbeaten North Caroline, who needs just one win to take the state title. Valley needs to win today to force a winner-take-all game for the title on Thursday.

Kyle Bywaters singled in T.J. Kuhn and Miller drove in Steve Clapper — who also singled — with a fielder’s choice in the second inning.

In the fourth, Kuhn, Clapper and Bywaters all singled to load the bases for Miller, who drove in all three runners with a triple.

Hunter Martin pitched 5 1/3 innings to get the win for Valley, striking out four. Joe Forti threw the final 1 2/3 innings to earn the save.

Maryland 11-12 Tournament

Berlin 2, Conococheague 0

ARBUTUS, Md. — Conococheague lost to Arbutus in the winners’ bracket final of the state 11-12 tournament at Arbutus Middle School.

No other information was available on the game.

Conococheague faces Brunswick today at 6 p.m. in the losers’ bracket final. The winner will face unbeaten Berlin in the championship round beginning Thursday. Brunswick defeated North Caroline 9-7 on Tuesday.
