H. Gene Hoover, 77, of Boonsboro, Md., passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013, at 6 a.m. at Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, Va., while vacationing with his family.

Born Oct. 21, 1935, in Nova, Pa., he was the son of the late Wilbur and Viola R. Bowers Hoover.

He was a 1953 graduate of James Buchanan High School.        

He recently retired from Hoover Fork-lift Sales, an equipment business he founded with his son, for 35 years.   

He was a member of Boonsboro Bible Church in Boonsboro.

He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and family.

He was a member of Williamsport Red Men Lodge 84 and Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

He left behind his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Waters) Hoover; his daughter, Teresa Myers and husband, Michael Myers; his son, Steven G. Hoover and companion, Christine Williams; four granddaughters, Kelsie Myers, Anna Hoover, Amy Hoover and Kara Myers; a brother, Larry Bowers of Greencastle, Pa.; and many close friends and business relationships. 

He was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Anna and Russell Rowe.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md. Pastor Robert Welty will officiate. There will be a private burial service at the graveside.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
