Young girl flown to Children's National Medical Center after fall from stage

HAGERSTOWN — A young girl was flown to Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Tuesday night after falling off a stage at St. Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown, according to a Washington County 911 supervisor.

Dispatchers were told that the girl, reported to be 1 year old, fell about 4 to 6 feet and struck her head at the school on Oak Hill Avenue, the supervisor said.

The incident was reported at 7:42 p.m.

The girl was flown to the hospital by Maryland State Police.

A spokesman for Community Rescue Service said the girl was stable after the fall and her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The spokesman declined to speculate how the fall occurred.
