Blood drive planned

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive at St. James Catholic Church in Boonsboro Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. 

The Red Cross is in need of all blood types.   

Reservations are sparse between the hours of 1:15 p.m. and 4 p.m.

The drive will be in the church hall on Main Street.  

St. James has the best canteen around for miles, so come enjoy free hot dogs, chili, drinks, and homemade desserts.

Benefit concert

Brownsville Church of the Brethren, at 1911 Rohrersville Road, invites the community to a benefit concert by Touchdown Sunset on Saturday. 

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and a silent auction and refreshments will be available. All donations will support missions and outreach. Haley Dagenhart will travel to Dublin, Ireland, in September to work with inner city youth and the homeless.


Bountiful Blessings

Bountiful Blessings will be available to those in need of cleaning and personal care supplies today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Benevola United Methodist Church, just west of Boonsboro off Alternate U.S. 40.

Chicken barbecue

The Boonsboro Lions Club will hold a chicken barbecue Saturday, beginning at 7 a.m. in the lot next to Columbia Bank on Main Street in Boonsboro.

Class of 1977

The Boonsboro High School Class of 1977 invites all members to the next “Stay in Touch” dinner on Friday, Aug. 2, at Captain Bender’s Tavern on Main Street in Sharpsburg.

Shafer concerts

Hope you got an opportunity to enjoy the Martinsburg (W.Va.) Jazz Orchestra on Sunday evening at Shafer Park. 

The U.S. Air Force Max Impact Band will perform Sunday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. at the park.  The band will play 1960s and ’70s rock tunes. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

The concerts are sponsored by the Boonsboro Park Board.

London Fog

The Boonsboro London Fog factory closed nearly 20 years ago, but folks are still working to stay in touch. 

The employee committee will hold a reunion Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Boonsboro American Legion.

Employees and management of the Boonsboro plant or the cutting facility in Hagerstown are invited to attend.
