During a breakfast awards ceremony on July 12, Hospice of Washington County awarded $1,000 scholarships to three students through The Frederic H. Kass III, MD Endowed Scholarship Fund.

The three recipients were:
Damara McDonough, a senior nursing student at Towson University
Karla Pandura, a recent graduate of Barbara Ingram School for the Arts.  Karla will attend Shenandoah University in the fall and major in kinesiology prephysical therapy
Sean Kreps, a recent graduate of Clear Spring High. Sean has not decided yet which school he will attend in the fall.

The fund was established at Hospice to honor Kass and to assist those students entering or studying in the healthcare field. Kass was on hand to talk with the students and their families.

Twenty-two applications were received this year. The committee narrowed the selection to the top seven, who were interviewed.

From the seven interviewed, three were selected to receive the Hospice scholarship.
