Students receive scholarship from Shippensburg University

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The following area students received scholarships from Shippensburg University:

— Alana R. Bielarski of Greencastle, Pa., received the Sean C. McCarthy Memorial Scholarship.

Bielarski graduated last spring from Greencastle-Antrim High School. She plans to major in English.

— Elliott J. Bonner of Waynesboro, Pa., received the Lynn G. and Evelyn R. Walck Memorial Scholarship and the John L. and Cora I. Grove Program Scholarship.

Bonner graduated last spring from Waynesboro Area Senior High School. He plans to major in business administration.

— Kyle J. Downs of Clear Spring received the Senior Award in Statistics.

Downs is a 2009 graduate of Clear Spring High School. He is a senior majoring in mathematics and finance.

— Megan Duckworth of Hagerstown received the Class of 1933 Scholarship.

Duckworth is a 2011 graduate of the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts. She is a junior majoring in elementary education for prekindergarten to fourth grade.

— Codey Fickes of Chambersburg, Pa., received the Class of 1954 Scholarship and the Virginia Thrush Education Scholarship.

Fickes, who graduated this spring from Chambersburg Area Senior High School, will major in history/social studies education.

— Anissa Freeman of Waynesboro received the Class of 1923 Jesse S. Heiges English Award.

Freeman is a 2011 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School. She is a junior majoring in English-secondary certification.

— Sharon Juarez of Greencastle received the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors’ Scholarship.

Juarez, who graduated this spring from Greencastle-Antrim High School, will major in political science and Spanish.

— Megan Misiak of Greencastle received the Dr. Max E. and Nancy H. Creager Education Scholarship and the Albert Lindsay Rowland and Ruth Hodge Scholarship.

Misiak, a 2012 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School, is a sophomore majoring in early childhood education.

— Kelly Lynn Smith of Chambersburg received the George R. and Margaret Hoffeditz Brindle Scholarship.

Smith, who graduated this spring from Chambersburg Area Senior High School, will major in elementary education.
