Motorcycle event takes place Saturday

Williamsport Bike Nite brings the roar of motorcycles back to the streets of Town Center on Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m.

Nigel Dupree, featured on TV’s “Full Throttle Saloon,” from Sturgis, S.D., will headline the entertainment.

The rock band Calissus kicks off the event. Boomtown Hoops will join the entertainment with their lighted hoops.

There will be a beer garden, bike show, ugly tattoo contest, specialty food court, T-shirts, vendors and other features.

Rockin’ at River Bottom tickets will go on sale and the new River Rat T-shirts will be introduced.

An “after party” will be held at Williamsport American Legion Post 202 following Bike Nite. It is open to the public.

Salisbury Street and two blocks of Conococheague Street will be closed to traffic, except for motorcycles, beginning at 2 p.m.

River City Classic set to begin Saturday

Conococheague Little League will host the annual River City Classic, beginning Saturday in Byron Memorial Park.


Library book sale is quickly approaching

The Williamsport Memorial Library is gearing up for its annual book sale, which will be held in the basement of the library Aug. 23 to 25, in conjunction with Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Days.

The library is accepting donated books for the book sale until the end of July.

Drop off book donations during regular library hours.

Do not include encyclopedias, magazines, textbooks or water-damaged items.

Class of 1961 members to celebrate turning 70

Members of Williams-port High School Class of 1961 will celebrate their 70th birthdays Saturday at Western Sizzlin’ Steakhouse in Halfway, beginning at 6 p.m.

Even though there are class members who will not reach the age of 70 by that date, they are encouraged to attend.

This will be an annual affair beginning with this celebration.

Class of 1957 planning reunion

Williamsport High School Class of 1957 will hold a reunion in Byron Memorial Park on Saturday, Sept. 21, from noon to 5 p.m.

Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Other classes of that era are also invited to attend.

Williamsport High School Classes of 1972 and 1973 are planning a combined 40-year reunion on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive.
